random things:
"Dogs must not foul footway or verge" I have to get a picture of that sign. I love it.

British boys, if they're wearing cologne, smell FANTASTIC.

People drive up on curbs a lot more here than in the states.

"Bus driver" is a valuable career to have here, as there are tons of buses, and there are tons of people who take them. Not to mention, it takes a great amount of skill to drive a double-decker bus through a roundabout and onto a street that has lanes the size of a Volkswagon Beetle, AND not hit any pedestrians, other cars, or any of the folk on bicycles.

This past weekend, I Did Stuff.
Friday: Went to The Cock and The Camel for a grand farewell to one of the project managers here. Beer is much much stronger than you anticipate. Stop after 2. Go home. Which I did.
Saturday: Wandered aimlessly through Oxford. Stumbled across the Ashmolean Museum, and spent about 2 hours wandering around the first floor. This Saturday, I plan to do the second floor :) It's absolutely huge, free admission, and just fantastic exhibits. I'm in love!
From there I went to Border's, and bought 3 books, 1 of which you can't get in paperback in the states yet :), and a random restaurant for lunch. I looked for a UK charger for my Gameboy, but no luck. Stopped at the Virgin Megastore. Finally my feet hurt and I went home.
Sunday: Went back to Border's for 2 more books, and then went to see Mona Lisa Smile at the local movie theatre, Odeon.
Tuesday: The first nice day Oxford has seen since I got here. Sun was shining, day was warm, windows were open. So what happens? I don't leave work till 7 pm. I think went to my first Indian restaurant in Britain. My advice? Don't get lamb. PLEH. The Vindaloo had a nice flavor to it, but it was a struggle to choke down the stringy, gristly meat. PLEH again.

Not sure what's in store, though there's a few playhouses and such that I'm going to try to get tickets to a Saturday show. I also want to wander around Magdalen Street and take pictures of the architecture.

Anyway. Lunch is over, back to work!

Deep-Fried Chocolate Sandwich Sells Like Hotcakes
Mar 24, 11:58 am ET

LONDON (Reuters) - Chocoholics seeking to indulge their passion this Easter will appreciate a British hotel chain's diet-busting chocolate sandwich, which boasts the added attraction of being dipped in batter and deep-fried.
Ramada Jarvis introduced the delicacy last month and said on Wednesday the calorie-heavy dish had become the fastest selling dessert on its menu.

"We were surprised it has become so popular, although it is very tasty," said the chain's director of food and beverages Debbie Walter.

The sandwich is particularly popular in Scotland, traditional birthplace of the mother of all deep-fried desserts, the battered Mars bar.

Mindful that Britain, along with other Western countries, faces an increasing problem of obesity the hotel chain also offers less fattening desserts.

"The chocolate sandwich is not something if you are on a serious calorie-controlled diet, but we do offer alternatives," said Walter.

Ramada Jarvis has 65 hotels in Britain, but only 36 currently offer the waist-expanding dessert.
