Neko Case was at Southgate house tonight... she. was. PHENOMENAL. Absolutely flawless. And beautiful, to boot. She played my 2 most favorite songs from Blacklisted - Deep Red Bells, and I Wish I Was the Moon. So, I bought a T-shirt (ok, the boy bought it, as I was out of cash), took a few pics with my cell phone (if I'd known real cameras were allowed, I would have charged my damn batteries for the digital), and lucky me has a friend who works there... with a real camera... so as soon as he emails me the shot, I've got a pic of me *with* Neko :D :D Closest to a celebrity I've ever come!

Many, many thanks to _tekwh0re_ for introducing me to Neko's music through her radio blog.

In other music news, I have to thank violaine as well, for turning me on to Eugene (I'm fairly certain there's no one else who introduced me to her), because I got my CD today :)

I guess I'm the only human residing in this part of the nation who isn't a Country 'music' fan. In fact ... Country 'music' makes my asshole pucker. I've TRIED to find some interest in it, I really have. I thought that; being trapped in this area for some years yet, I had better develope a tolerance for it. Alas, I find it impossible. I'm not downing anyone else's musical preferences (at least not out loud) but it was akin to attempting to train myself to -if not enjoy- at least tolerate the sound of people running a fork down a chalkboard.

I AM however, glad you enjoyed your show :)

enh, it's not really "country", exactly. Though I will say she's less country in person than she is on her CD's. Her voice is like velvet in concert :)

alt-country is still country. If it has steel guitar, banjo, or people singing through their nose in a hick/hillbilly accent I have no interest. And aside from the fact that her tits are visible (and her hand looks gimpy) in this photo, I can't find anything interesting at all. Nudity does not an attractive woman make...
