Jun. 13th, 2008 11:19 pmI dunno what it is about today, but volunteering tonight almost drove me to tears.
There's 2 boards that every volunteer checks - the adoption board, and the Rainbow Bridge board. Tonight I discovered that one of the cats that is usually allowed to run around the Vet room, Speedy, was put to sleep earlier this week. I barely even knew him, but it made me really sad.
One of my and The Beau's personal favorites, after he climbed up in his lap and wouldn't let go, is Petie - he's got some sort of illness that requires constant fluid injections. He's scrawny and old and has a port in his neck for easy injections. Last week and this he's gotten so much worse and I suspect he's not long for this world.
There's a little girl in the Vet room, Ali, who is FIV+, and is under observation because she's lost weight. She's got some sort of skin condition right now, too, and she's lost most of her fur, and she's all flaky skin and bones. And she is the sweetest thing on 4 legs. Last Friday, The Beau and I cleaned all cages in the Vet room and discovered that she was a little love bug. Tonight, he couldn't go, and after I finished my rooms I just sat and took her out of her cage and loved her up as much as I could. She didn't even make the slightest motion to leave my lap - just burrowed in and loved and purred and purred. I didn't even want to put her back.
I guess I'm just sad tonight. I don't know why.
