church of the poisoned mind
Jul. 6th, 2004 11:24 pmSo it's a work night, I've had half a bottle of wine, and I finally stopped wanting to wring people's necks.
Work SUCKED. Our main server crashed and won't be up till tomorrow, at the earliest, so everything I worked on today.... GONE. Everything I needed to get done.. GONE. I'm trying to make up time tonight by working of our shared drive instead of the jobfiles drive, but it's still not enough, and my goddamn work ethic is making me feel guilty.
I created a "gay music" list for working. I dig it. There's some Culture Club, some George Michael, some Queen, some David Bowie, and some Rolling Stones. I'm groovin' over here :)
I can sum up July 4th weekend with one word : Lazy. The boy and I played City of Heroes endlessly, while pretending like we wanted to clean and/or do other things. Then we slept. Repeat cycle.
My life is fairly blissfully boring right now, except for the working-50-hours thing. Not cool. I'd like to re-iterate : my company is HIRING OUT THE ASS. Want a job in Cincinnati for a marketing research company? Please see here. If you apply for something and I know you at all, let me know. We both can make money off of this, thanks to referrals ;)
Yeah. I'm done. I need to go to bed and sleep off the wine so I can get up tomorrow and work more and listen to gripy project managers complain that I don't have their programs to them when it's not my fault I lost all the work I did today. *sigh*

Date: 2004-07-06 08:41 pm (UTC)my company is HIRING OUT THE ASS.
1. Are they looking for system administrators, preferably UNIX-flavored?
2. Relo?

Date: 2004-07-06 08:46 pm (UTC)UNIX flavored admins, I doubt. Relo, I'm guessing stands for relocation? In which case, if they like you, it's my understanding they pay for it. I didn't have to, I was local, but I know there's a fellow at work from OK who was paid to relocate.
There's new job postings every week. If you find something you like, go for it, I can always put in a good word... for the proper bribe ;)

Date: 2004-07-06 08:55 pm (UTC)The only IT job in Cincy is a part-time helldesk job, which has a posting date of last October. While I have other motivation for relocating to Ohio, 25 hours a week at $10/hr isn't really sufficient, and no company would provide relo for an entry-level job. Besides, there's that whole 'overqualified' thing.
I'll keep looking, though. Thanks for the lead.

Date: 2004-07-06 09:13 pm (UTC)Hello,
I would like to be considered for the Associate Manager of Client Services position, job listing 626. I believe that my unique combination of experience in highly technical positions and team leadership makes me an excellent candidate, right in line with your needs.
I love to travel and would have no problem going onsite anywhere in the world to meet with clients.
As you'll note, I currently reside in Colorado Springs. I will relocate to Cincinnati on receipt of an offer.
I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks for your consideration.
Regards,
Coinneach Fitzpatrick

Put it this way: I have to be told by the GM, assistant manager, and shift manager at Papa John's to slow the hell down and take a break. :)
